Shaping the Future of Scientific Innovation

The Department of Physics at Dhaka College introduced its Honors course in 1857 under Calcutta University, making it the oldest in Bangladesh. In 1921, the Honors and Master’s programs were affiliated with Dhaka University until the Liberation War in 1971. After independence, the department resumed under Dhaka University in 1974 and later transitioned to National University in 1992. In 2017, the programs were reaffiliated with Dhaka University. Currently, 120 students enroll annually in both Honors and Master’s levels. Over the years, the department has produced talented teachers and students, contributing significantly to academia and research. Proud of its rich history, the department remains committed to excellence, fostering innovation and scientific inquiry in physics while preparing graduates for dynamic careers in education, research, and industry.
