Geography & Environment has been an integral part of Dhaka College since its inception, initially introduced at the Intermediate and Degree levels. The department began offering a three-year Honors and one-year Master’s course in 1994-1995 under Dhaka University. In 1997, the Honors program came under the authority of the National University, with the Master’s course starting in 1997-1998. Currently, the department offers 180 seats for the Honors first year and 150 seats for the Master’s course. With twelve dedicated faculty members and two staff, the department serves over 650 students. Many graduates from the department have gone on to serve at various levels within the country. Renowned educators such as Prof. M.I. Chowdhury, Prof. Kamal Uddin, and Prof. Altafunnesa Maya have taught at this esteemed department, contributing to its legacy of academic excellence.
