Advancing Plant Science and Environmental Sustainability
The Department of Botany at Dhaka College is a prestigious academic division. It introduced a Master’s program in 1995-96, followed by a B.Sc. Honors program in 1997-98 under the National University, initiated by Prof. Late Naiyer Sultana. The curriculum covers subjects such as Microbiology, Mycology, Biodiversity, Ecology, Plant Taxonomy, Genetics, Cytology, and Biotechnology. The department has a well-stocked seminar library with thousands of books, journals, and research papers. Excursions, a compulsory part of the curriculum, provide valuable hands-on experience. Botany students consistently excel academically and actively engage in extracurricular activities, including debates, science fairs, cultural programs, and sports. The department is dedicated to nurturing both academic excellence and personal development, ensuring students are well-prepared for future careers in the field of Botany.
