Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies

Preserving Tradition, Inspiring the Future

The Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies at Dhaka College is one of its oldest disciplines. Arabic was taught from the college's inception at both the Intermediate and Degree levels, with Islamic Studies introduced in the early 1980s at the HSC and Degree levels. The department expanded with a Master's program in the 1994-1995 session and introduced an Honors course in the 2005-2006 session. Over the years, it has significantly contributed to promoting Arabic language proficiency and Islamic scholarship. The department offers students a thorough understanding of Arabic literature, Islamic history, and theology, preparing them for careers in academia, research, and other professional fields. Today, it continues to uphold its legacy of academic excellence and intellectual growth, playing a crucial role in cultivating future scholars and professionals in the fields of Arabic and Islamic studies.
